An odd potato for Hanukkah

The Hanukkah musical "The Odd Potato," performed by Curtain Call, The Arizona Jewish Theatre Company's children's division, runs Dec. 5-9 at the Playhouse at the Park, Viad Corporate Center, 1850 N. Central Ave., Phoenix.

The play, written by Eileen Bluestone Sherman and directed by Alison Ganssle, tells the story of young Rachel and Danny, whose mother has recently passed away. They search for their mother's menorah so they can use it to celebrate Hanukkah. They finally decide that the type of menorah doesn't matter and fashion their own out of an oddly shaped potato.

The hour-long show is appropriate for children 4 and older. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday; 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $10 adults, $5 ages 18 and younger. Call 602-264-0402.
