Obituaries

Naftali Frankel

Naftali Frankel of Cincinnati died Nov. 3, 2001. He was 71. He is survived by his son, Ben of Scottsdale. He was born in Jerusalem. He was a realtor.

Other survivors include his wife, Penina; son, Steven of Cincinnati; daughter, Deena Frewen of Chicago; brother, Reuven of Chicago; sisters, Esther Davis of New York City, Debbie Friend of Carmel, Calif., and Yaffa Flitterman of Santa Barbara, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Weil Funeral Home in Cincinnati. Arrangements were by Weil Funeral Home. Denise Gabbay

Denise Gabbay of Scottsdale died Nov. 8, 2001. She was 65. She was born in Cairo, Egypt, and moved to Arizona in 1992 from Colorado. She was a retired bookkeeper. She was a member of Chabad-Lubavitch of Phoenix.

Survivors include her daughter, Beverly of Grand Junction, Colo.; and son, Robert of Scottsdale.

Services were held at Phoenix Memorial Park, with Rabbi Dan Hayman officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to American Cancer Society, 2929 E. Thomas Road, Phoenix 85016.



Phyllis Mautner

Phyllis Mautner of Phoenix died Nov. 9, 2001. She was 77. She was born in Chicago and moved to Arizona 51 years ago. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda Alberts of Phoenix; son, Robert of Paradise Valley; and three grandchildren.

Services were held at Greenwood Memorial Lawn, with Rabbi Michael Wasserman officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to Beth El Congregation, 1118 W. Glendale Ave., Phoenix 85021; or American Lung Association, P.O. Box 67270, Phoenix 85082.



Carole Marcus

Carole M. Marcus of Scottsdale died Nov. 12, 2001. She was 68. She was born in Philadelphia and moved to Arizona in 1999. She was a certified public accountant and a volunteer CPA for low-income people at AARP.

Survivors include her daughter, Sue Adatto of Scottsdale; son, Jon Marcus; and one grandchild.

Services were held at a private residence, with Cantor Drew Mayer officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix 85014.



David Wieder

David Wieder, age 92, passed away November 13, 2001 in Scottsdale, Arizona. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio and moved to Phoenix seven years ago from Florida. He was a retired merchant and a member of Temple Beth Emeth of Scottsdale.

He is survived by his son Gary (Bonnie) Wieder; daughter Helaine (Norman) Fogel; sisters Ruth Lefkovitz and Edith Friedlander; brothers Harold (Sally) Wieder and Irwin (Joan) Wieder; grandchildren Scott Stecker, Karen (Don) Heston, Cheryl (Alan) Klein and Marla (Mark) Leigh; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday, November 15th in Sinai Mortuary Chapel. Contributions in his memory are requested to Ina Levine Jewish Community Campus c/o Jewish Federation of Greater Phoenix, 32 West Coolidge Street, #200, Phoenix, Arizona 85013.



Louis Kuhn

Louis Kuhn, of Lawrence, New York and Phoenix, Arizona died November 7, 2001. He was 89. He lived most of his life in New York and also resided in Phoenix for the last 16 years.

He was Founder and President of Chief Apparel Inc. of New York, a men's clothing manufacturing company. He served overseas in the United States Army during World War II. He was a philanthropist of many organizations both in New York and Arizona.

Survivors include his adoring wife Lee, daughter Karen Troyan of Paradise Valley, son Robert of Pasadena, CA and New York City, son-in-law Stu, and daughter-in-law Dora. He was a loving grandfather to Aaron, Adam and Daniella Kuhn, and Ross and Michael Troyan.

Services were held in Hewlett, New York. Contributions in his memory are requested to Temple Solel, 6805 E. McDonald Dr., Paradise Valley, AZ 85253. Arrangements by Sinai Mortuary.



Dorothy Kohn

Dorothy Kohn, of Leisure World, AZ, passed away November 6, 2001 at the age of 65. She was the Past President, Board Member and Gabbai of Temple Beth Emeth of Scottsdale. She was also the co-president of Negev Chapter Hadassah. She was a Torah Teacher in the Shalom Group. She formerly was an accountant for ASU.

Dorothy is survived by her loving husband, Emil Kohn; son, Alan Feigenbaum of Dallas, TX; daughter, Lori Lodigkeit of Littleton, CO; three grandchildren; and sister, Bella Forster of CA. Her brother, Sam, predeceases her.

Graveside services were held Friday, November 9, 2001 at Green Acres Memorial Gardens, Scottsdale. Contributions are suggested to Temple Beth Emeth of Scottsdale, P.O. Box 2831, Scottsdale, AZ 85252.
