At its 58th annual meeting, the Valley of the Sun Jewish Community Center installed the 2001-2002 board of directors. Officers include: Bob Silver, chairman; Irwin Kanefsky, and David Sherman, vice chairmen; Gary Weiss, secretary/treasurer; and Joel Kramer, outgoing chairman. Members include Harriet Bernick, Joel Bernick, Richard Dobrusin, Michael Folb, Adam Goodman, Jeff Goulder, Steven Hilton, Gary Jaburg, Nate Sachs, Andrew Schwartz, Danny Sharaby, Kimberly Shacknai, Randi Sherman and Jay Zweig. Shannon Birzon and Lanny Lahr will serve as ex officio board members.

Barbara McConnell Barrett of Paradise Valley is among 10 women nationally selected to receive Northwood University's 32nd annual Distinguished Women's Award. The national award recognizes women of significant achievement and leadership. The awards will be presented today (Friday, Nov. 16) at the Ritz-Carlton in Phoenix.

American ORT will present the first "Ambassador David B. Hermelin Awards" to Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton and Murray Koppelman, past president of the organization, at an Inaugural dinner to be held Dec. 2 in New York City. The award is presented to nationally recognized figures for accomplishments in government, business, humanities or the arts.

The Arizona Chapter, National Association of the 10th Mountain Division, has elected officers for the ensuing year. Officers include: Robert Goyer, president; George Peterson, vice president; and Gary Pickard, secretary/treasurer. The 10th Mountain Division, popularly known as Ski Troops, served in Italy during World War II. The reactivated division is presently serving in Uzbekistan.

Chip Chicoine, owner of CC Flowers, has opened a new floral boutique called CC Flowers of Paradise Valley, 5203 E. Lincoln Drive. CC Flowers is also located in central Phoenix at the Renaissance Center.

Steve Banen will join Cornelis Hollander during the opening of his second store, Cornelis Hollander at the Summit, on Nov. 1. The store will provide complete jewelry services and is part of "The Summit" shopping center, located at the intersection of Scottsdale Road and Ashler Hills Drive in Scottsdale.

Donna O'Neill has been hired as the business development manager at Systematic Design, Inc., a Scottsdale-based graphic design firm. O'Neill, a graduate of the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University, will be handling business functions including sales, marketing, production, copywriting and office management.

Phoenix-based law firm Fennemore Craig was ranked as a top firm in a special legal issue of Corporate Board Member, the only national magazine for the directors of publicly traded companies.

Stephanie Cadell has joined the staff of EF Au Pair in Chandler as a local childcare coordinator. Cadell will provide service and support to host families and their au pairs throughout the program year.
