'Sammy Spider' author reads to Valley childrenIn recognition of Jewish Book Month, the Valley of the Sun Jewish Community Center and Temple Chai present Sylvia Rouss, author of "Sammy Spider" 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, at Temple Chai, 4545 E. Marilyn Road, Phoenix.Rouss will read from her new book "The Littlest Pair" and from "Sammy Spider's First Hanukkah." Rouss, who is an early childhood educator at Stephen S. Wise Temple Nursery School in Los Angeles, wrote her first book "Fun with Jewish Holiday Rhymes" in 1992.She has written seven books in the Sammy Spider holiday series, published by Kar-Ben Copies, and two books in the Littlest series, published by Pitspopany Press. She also has a Growing up Jewish with Sarah Leah Jacob's series, which is published by Jonathan David Publishers. She has 17 books, two anthologies and seven activity books in print or being prepared for publication. Cost for the event at Temple Chai is $5 per child, which includes milk and cookies.
