Obituaries

Jed Jurkowitz

Jed Jurkowitz of Phoenix died Oct. 27, 2001. He was 57. He was born in Scranton, Pa., and moved to Arizona in 1961. He was an attorney and a member of Beth Joseph Congregation.

Survivors include his wife, Judith; daughter, Jennifer; sons, Jeffrey, Jonathan and Jordan, all of Phoenix; mother, Florence; and brother, Harvey of Tucson.

Services were held at Sinai Mortuary Chapel, with Rabbi David Rebibo officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to Phoenix Hebrew Academy, Rabbi Cooperman's Educational Fund, 515 E. Bethany Home Road, Phoenix 85012; or the Arizona Humane Society, 9226 N. 13th Ave., Phoenix 85012.



Ann Sparberg

Ann Sparberg of Scottsdale died Oct. 27, 2001. She was 96. She was born in New York City and moved to Arizona in 1996 from Chicago. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Women's League for Crippled Children and Variety Club Children's Charities, in Chicago.

Survivors include her daughter, Frances Blechman of Northbrook, Ill.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services were held in Chicago. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to Variety Club of Illinois, Ann & Jack Sparberg, Amputee Program, 1 IBM Plaza, #2800, Chicago, Ill., 60611.



Sim Miller

Sim Miller of Phoenix died Oct. 28, 2001. He was 40.

He was born in Phoenix. He was a salesman.

Survivors include his wife, Irene; daughters Crystal and Monica; parents Phil and Mariellen Miller and Shirley Miller, all of Phoenix; sisters Jennifer Traulsen, Elisa Aellig, and Halle, all of Phoenix.

Contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society, 2929 E. Thomas Road, Phoenix 85016.



Isabelle Appell

Isabelle Appell of Scottsdale died Oct. 30, 2001. She was 61.

She was born in Yonkers, N.Y., and moved to Arizona in 1967. She was president of Weight Watchers of Arizona, Inc.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry; daughter, Felice of Scottsdale; son, Glenn of Phoenix; and brother, Jerome Weinfuss of Bloomfield, Mich.

Private memorial services were held, with Rabbi Maynard Bell officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary.
