People on the moveDenise Resnik, of Denise Resnik & Associates, was named the 2001 ATHENA award recipient by the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce. The award was given in recognition of her business success and community involvement. Resnick is also the co-founder of the Southwest Autism Research Center.Joel Arthur, DDS, has opened a second office, North Scottsdale Children's Dentistry and Orthodontics, at 9360 E. Raintree Drive. Arthur's son and daughter, Chad and Mandy Arthur, will be assisting him in both offices. David Israel has joined Prudential Securities Wellesley branch as a financial advisor. Israel, a graduate from the University of Arizona, has worked for Prudential Securities in Mesa since 1997. The Whispering Hope Ranch Foundation, a nonprofit camp for disabled children, elected new officers for its board of directors. Officers include Mark Prygocki, treasurer; and Mike Rosenthal, vice president of planning and operations. Other members include Diane Reid, ranch founder; and Denise Resnik, board president of the Southwest Autism Research Center. The Area Agency on Aging, Region One, presented the Dr. R. Alice Drought Awards during the annual luncheon at the Arizona Biltmore Oct. 11. Award recipients were Kermit Clark, Sr. and Marion Van Camp, volunteer award; Becky Claycomb and Rebecca Franco, individual achievement award; and Rick Romley and Joseph Rogers, community service award. The Orvis Company will open a new store Oct. 27, at 7012 E. Greenway Parkway, Suite 140, Scottsdale. The store will offer men and women's fashions, gifts and fly fishing and hunting gear. Café Cortez in Tempe has received the TOPS award from the Specialty Coffee Association of America in recognition of excellence in specialty coffee retailing.
