Synagogues to celebrate Sukkot

Valley synagogues will celebrate Sukkot, beginning the evening of Oct. 1, with tours, games, food and arts and crafts.

A "Sukkah-Hopping Tour" will be held by Chabad of the East Valley 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, beginning at the Chabad Hebrew School, 6185 W. Detroit St., Chandler. Participants will visit five sukkot around the East Valley to see and celebrate the customs and traditions represented by the sukkah. Kosher food, sand art, and the opportunity to make a Simchat Torah flag will also be offered.

Chabad-Lubavitch of Phoenix will also offer a sukkah tour 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, beginning at the Arizona Chabad Center, 2110 E. Lincoln Drive, Phoenix. A family barbecue under the stars will be held 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, at the center. Dancing and live music follows.

"Pizza in a Hut" for teens will be offered 7:15-9:15 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at a private home in Phoenix. Cost is $5.

A family Sukkot celebration hosted by Chabad of the West Valley will take place 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, at Chabad, 7227 W. Bluefield Ave., Glendale.

The celebration will include Jewish music, Hasidic dancing, holiday arts and crafts and family entertainment.

Preordered pizza will be available.

Parking is available at Arrowhead Elementary School.
