Insulting cartoon

Editor:
I am ashamed of the insulting cartoon in the July 20 issue of Jewish News which depicts former U.S. President Bush and current President Bush and Vice President Cheney in the same way that Hitler and current Muslim anti-Semites have portrayed Jews. What have any of these three great gentlemen done to deserve such a vicious attack?

The elder Bush helped to destroy Iraq in a very successful war - perhaps saving Israel from a war. His successor, Bill Clinton, managed to increase the threat to Israel by pushing its leaders to give in to Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat. I am sure that Clinton did this in an effort to repair his own image as a philanderer. Bush and Cheney are trying to get Palestinians and Israelis together to work out their difficulties. I think this is a worthwhile try.

I believe that the Jewish people are prejudiced against the Bushes and the Republican party. It seems that nothing can change that.

Praise self-defense

Editor:
The Israelis can defend themselves, targeting military and political objectives, only in self-defense or retaliation for deliberate murder.

Such action should not be opposed or condemned by the United States or anyone else. It should be praised and supported.

Better to condemn those who commit violence against unarmed civilian men, women, children and babies.

We did fight and defeat the Nazis. What are we doing about the PLO terrorists?

I am disappointed in our anti-Israel foreign policy bias.

Not fair, no money

Editor:
I urge readers to write members of Congress regarding our tax dollars supporting National Public Radio's unfair coverage of Israel. NPR continually slants coverage in favor of Palestinians without giving equal coverage to Israeli views.
