JCC day school hires Troisi as director

The Tri-City Jewish Community Center Day School has named Donna Troisi to the newly created position of day school director.

Troisi, a long-time educator, has taught for more than 20 years.

Most recently she was director of education at Har Zion Congregation for three years. Prior to that she taught religious school at Har Zion for three years.

She was interim day school director at The King David School last spring.

Troisi has a master's degree in elementary education from Arizona State University and is currently working on a master's degree in Judaic education from Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies in Chicago.

Ilene Blau, executive director of the Tri-City JCC, said Cynthia Benedict, the early childhood director, had overseen the day school for the past two years. The school had planned to hire a day school director once the school added a third-grade class, which it now has done.

"For the future growth of the Tri-City day school, it needs its own director - to set community standards, to develop committees, to do marketing and all of the administrative and supervisory duties that a director can devote to a new day school," said Blau.

In addition to serving as a liaison between parents and teachers, Troisi will help develop curriculum and serve on local day-school committees.

Blau said Troisi's desire to build a strong community was a major factor in hiring her for the position.

"She brings a lot of energy and commitment and enthusiasm to the position. We're very excited about having her here."
