Obituaries

Edward Marcus

Edward Marcus of Scottsdale died July 30, 2001. He was 66. He was born in Boston and was a manufacturer's representative in the furniture industry.

Survivors include his wife, Cynthia; son, Andrew; daughters, Robin Gay and Wendy Langerman; sisters, Anita Walk of South Natick, Mass., and Sue Rodman of Falmouth, Mass.; and four grandchildren.

Services were held at Green Acres Cemetery. Arrangements were by Green Acres Mortuary.



Eva Studnick

Eva C. Studnick of Phoenix died July 30, 2001. She was 89. She was born in Poland and moved to Arizona seven years ago from New York. She was a retired bookkeeper and a member of Banker's Trust Company.

Survivors include her sister, Ida Berris of Plantation, Fla.

Services were held at Beth Israel Cemetery, with Rabbi Mark J. Bisman officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to Phoenix Hebrew Academy, 515 E. Bethany Home Road, Phoenix 85012; or Har Zion Religious School, 6140 E. Thunderbird Road, Scottsdale 85254.



Mildred Salzman

Mildred Salzman of Chandler died July 26, 2001. She was 85. She was born in Chicago and moved to Arizona 11 years ago from California. She was a retired advertising writer.

Survivors include her sons, Orin of Chandler, and Bernard of Millfield, Ohio; and two grandchildren.

Services were held at Valley of the Sun Memorial Park in Chandler. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary.



Morris J. Goodman

Morris J. Goodman, age 87, passed away July 29, 2001 in Scottsdale, Arizona. He was born in Poland and moved to Arizona 22 years ago from Chicago, Illinois. He was a retired merchant, an avid Zionist and a member of Beth El Congregation. Survivors include his beloved wife Jeanne, daughters Heidi (Irwin) Shapiro and Sharon (Michael) Mell, sisters Sara Gutman and Rose Graham. Loving grandfather to grandchildren Joel, Eric and Scott Shapiro, and Howard, Jessica and Matthew Mell. Graveside services were held Tuesday, July 31st at Beth El Cemetery, 2300 W. Van Buren Street in Phoenix. Contributions in his memory are suggested to Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America, 6220 E. Thomas Road, #102, Scottsdale, Arizona 85251 or Jewish National Fund, 301 E. Daniel M. Jacobson

Daniel M. Jacobson, of Phoenix, died July 30, 2001. He was 56. He was born in New York City. In 1948, he moved to Miami Beach, Florida where he grew up, then moved to Arizona 17 years ago. He was President, CEO and founder of Child Support Network, a major international financial services company. He worked in the credit and collection industry for over 30 years. He was an avid racing, boxing and basketball fan. He also enjoyed boating and was a musician. He served in the Air Force, including a tour of duty in Greenland.

Survivors include his wife, Jan; son, Mark; and mother-in-law, Tobie Sikov, all of Phoenix. His Florida family includes his sister Jayne Collins and Jeremy and Mara Jacobson, Larry and Craig Collins, and Aunt Eve Marder.

Services were held at Paradise Memorial Gardens on Thursday, August 2nd. Contributions are suggested to: Childhelp Children's Center of Arizona or Racing for Kids. Arrangements by Sinai Mortuary of Arizona.



Nathan Metz

Nathan Metz, 83, passed away July 30, 2001 in Scottsdale, Arizona. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and moved to Scottsdale two years ago. He was a retired developer who for 50 years was in the construction business in the Maryland area. He was a member of Temple Solel, a Mason and a veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife Selma, son Martin (Marilyn) Metz, daughters Geraldine (Burton) Kroll and Deborah (Walter) Hirsch, brothers Irwin (Charlotte) Metz and Sherrill (Elaine) Metz, and three grandchildren. Private services were held Wednesday, August 1st in Scottsdale, AZ. Contributions in his memory to charity of choice. Arrangements by Sinai Mortuary of Arizona.



Irene Schannon

Irene Schannon, age 82, passed away July 25, 2001 in Oslo, Norway. She was born in Brooklyn, New York and moved to Arizona 22 years ago from Bayside, NY. She was a resident of Sun Lakes and a member of the Sun Lakes Jewish Congregation. Survivors include her husband Stanley, son Dr. Robert (Paula) Schannon, daughter Maddy Shapiro and brother Leonard (Elaine) Klahr. Four grandchildren also survive. Graveside funeral services were held Sunday, July 29th in Beth Israel Cemetery. Contributions in her memory are requested to Temple Beth Israel, 10460 N. 56th Street, Scottsdale, AZ 85253; Jewish Federation of Greater Phoenix, 32 W. Coolidge Street, Phoenix, AZ 85013; and Jewish National Fund, 301 E. Bethany Home Rd., #A-213, Phoenix, AZ 85012. Arrangements by Sinai Mortuary.
