People on the moveChild Haven, a volunteer, family-based crisis nursery program of The Arizona's Children Association, was awarded the Drucker Nonprofit Innovation of the Week recognition May 23-29. The honor was given in recognition of the difference Child Haven makes in the lives of the people it serves. The program, located in Yavapai County, was created to provide free temporary placement for infants and young children of families in crisis.Opportunities and Role Models for Youth (ORY Center), a newly formed nonprofit organization with the goal of creating a center in which young adults living in group homes can learn life skills and receive positive mentoring from Valley professionals, has named its board of directors. Board members are Sue Barenholtz, president; Rick Beren, vice-president; Jill Mapstead, director of administration; Chris Holbert, director of public relations and marketing; Kim Dublak, director of programs; Rich Rose, director of operations; Maria Hinderleider, director of development and fund raising; and Meryl Rose, board-member-at-large and board chairwoman. MGA Interiors L.L.C., a Phoenix-based interior design firm specializing in long-term care and assisted-care facilities, was recognized with three recent awards. For design of the common areas of Sierra Pointe, a rental retirement community in Scottsdale, the company received a silver award at the Best of Seniors' Housing Design banquet at the February International Builders Show in Atlanta. The Arizona North Chapter of the American Society of Interiors Designers acknowledged MGA Interiors for its work with The Citadel, a retirement community in Mesa, and Sierra Pointe with first place awards in the categories of assisted living and entertainment and hospitality. Randy Niles has joined Valley Forward Association, a nonprofit organization which brings businesses and civic leaders together to improve the environment and quality of life in Valley communities, as membership director. Jennifer Richardson has been appointed executive assistant for the organization. Kathi M. Mansell, D.M.D., F.A.G.D., opened a general dentistry practice at 7595 E. McDonald Drive, Suite 110, Scottsdale. Formerly of Scottsdale Dental Associates, Mansell has been providing dental care in Arizona for 14 years. Linda Radke, founder of Five Star Publications, Inc. of Chandler, received two first- place awards at the National Federation of Press Women's 2001 Professional Communications Contest. Radke was awarded first place in the categories of "Nonfiction books Religious or Inspirational" and "Catalogs Retail or Manufacturing" after Five Star submitted entries of works into the statewide organization, Arizona Press Women, and then competed nationally. Sapporo, a Teppanyaki, Pacific Rim and Sushi restaurant will open in early October at 14344 N. Scottsdale Road, Scottsdale. The American Restaurant Group joined forces with Bin Ahn, partner of Sakura in Tucson, to introduce Scottsdale to Asian dining. DFD Architecture has been selected to design Washington Park, a multi-phased corporate office development on a 25-acre campus located at the intersection of 44th and Van Buren streets, Phoenix. SunAmerica Investments, Inc. is the master developer of the project. |
