Obituaries

Minnie Platizky

Minnie Platizky of Phoenix died July 21, 2001. She was 86. She was born in Bronx, N.Y., and moved to Arizona 14 years ago. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her son, Gary of Phoenix; and two grandchildren.

Services were held at Paradise Memorial Gardens, with Rabbi Mark J. Bisman officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to American Cancer Society, 2929 E. Thomas Road, Phoenix 85016.



Adam Lesman

Adam Robert Lesman of Phoenix died July 24, 2001. He was 38. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and moved to Arizona 29 years ago. He was a life member of B'nai B'rith Youth Organization.

Survivors include his parents, Susan Sobel and Sheldon, both of Phoenix; sister, Robin Israel of San Diego; brother, Craig of Phoenix; and grandmother, Dorothy Sobel of Phoenix.

Services were held at Sinai Mortuary Chapel, with Rabbi Lisa Tzur officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to B'nai B'rith Youth Organization, 7418 E. Helm Drive, Scottsdale 85260.



Bettie L. Cates

Bettie L. Cates of Scottsdale, was born in Boston, Massachusetts and passed away on July 21, 2001. She is survived by her husband Max; son Jeffrey Cates (Myra); daughter Eileen Shiff (Arthur); grandchildren Karen Kozinets (Peter), Allison Weinstock (David), Matt and Lindsay Cates; and great granddaughter Phoebe Kozinets. Services were held on Wednesday, July 25th at Green Acres Chapel of Light, 401 N. Hayden Rd., Scottsdale. Suggested memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014.
