Fund contributes to needy programs in Israel

The Tzedakah Fund, in the fiscal year ending June 30, contributed $39,000 to more than 10 social service providers in Israel, who help those who fall through the cracks of larger social service programs.

Stan Mayersohn, Scottsdale resident and retired certified public accountant, founded the Tzedakah Fund in 1984; since then, it has contributed more than $415,000 to various causes. The fund is a nonprofit organization certified by the Internal Revenue Service to receive tax-deductible contributions.

Recipients include: The Roof, which provides honorably discharged soldiers with dorm rooms, educational opportunities and guidance; Center for Advancement of the Blind, which provides treatment for blind and poor-sighted newborn infants and rehabilitation for adults who have recently lost their sight; Shelter for Battered Women, Jerusalem, which offers training in self-aid and independent living for women and their children; and Linda Feldman Rape Crisis Center, which provides services to survivors of rape and sexual assault.

For information, write to 1030 E. Keim Drive, Phoenix, AZ 85014; or contact Mayersohn at 480-945-5354 or e-mail, smayersohn@juno.com.
