Krane has served as director of the University of Colorado Art Galleries, curator of modern and contemporary art at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, Ga., and as curator at Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, N.Y. Susan Shattuck has been named executive director of Arizona's Children Foundation. Shattuck has served as director of annual fund for the Scottsdale Cultural Council, vice president for Affiliate Development and has held positions on the Phoenix Arts Commission and the Actors Lab Arizona. Stephan Dale Martin has been named managing director of Childsplay, Inc., the Tempe-based professional theater company for young audiences. Martin has a bachelor's of fine arts degree in theater from the University of Toledo in Toledo, Ohio, and has worked in theater management for 19 years. He will begin at Childsplay on Sept. 1. Pamela Bruder and Jeffrey Kahn have been elected to The Heard Museum's governing board. Bruder, a resident of La Jolla, Calif., has served on the boards of the San Diego Natural History Museum, California Association of Museums, Museum Trustee Association and the Society for the Preservation of Natural History Collections. Kahn, a resident of Scottsdale, is a financial management executive and vice president of Morgan Stanley. He has served on the boards of Desert Highlands, Elizabeth Seton College, Iona College and Saint Vincent's Hospital. Evelyn Berger of Elkins Park, Pa., has been named national president of the American Society for Technion-Israel Institute of Technology. She will be formally installed at the board of directors meeting Oct. 26 in San Francisco. A retired insurance executive and community leader, Berger will be the first woman to lead the American Technion Society. Chef Marcos Barreto and owner Bernd Glaeser of the Uptown Restaurant & Brewery in Phoenix have created a menu featuring 38 new dishes. Barreto's signature entrees include shrimp and lobster flautas and seared ahi tuna sliders. Traditional favorites will also be served. PhilanthropyWorksAZ has announced the new editorial advisory board members. Members include Preston McMurry, president and chairman of McMurry Publishing; Lois Savage, president, The Lodestar Foundation; Joyce Winston, principal of Success Strategies Group; Robert Ashcraft, director of the Center for Nonprofit Leadership and Management at Arizona State University; Rick McCartney, publisher/editor in chief of Arizona Corridors; and Matthew Lehrer, Esq., president of Legacies. Noah Daniel Guttell of Scottsdale graduated from the Berklee College of Music in Boston May 12. Guttell earned a bachelor of music degree with a major in film scoring. James Dew, president of Dew Wealth Management, received the Thank You Award from the Metro Phoenix Boys & Girls Club at the June 20 annual awards dinner. The award recognizes dedication to the organization. Dew serves on the organization's executive council and the board of trustees. Cantor Baruch Koritan of Temple Beth Shalom in Sun City attended the American Conference of Cantors/Guild of Temple Musicians convention July 1-5 in Washington, D.C.
