ObituariesAndrew PokrossAndrew Pokross of Scottsdale died June 12, 2001. He was 62. He was born in New York City and moved to Arizona last year. He was a retired banker.Survivors include his daughter, Fran of New York City; son, David of New York City; and sisters, Sondra Mesnik and Lois Klimerman, both of Scottsdale, and Susan Phillips of Delray Beach, Fla. Houston St., New York, NY, 10014. Sophie BravermanSophie Braverman of Scottsdale died July 6, 2001. She was 83. She was born in Buffalo, New York, and moved to Arizona 30 years ago. She was a homemaker.Survivors include her husband, Irving; daughter, Rebecca Rubin of Scottsdale; sons, Mel of Madison, Wis., and Arthur of Ojai, Calif.; and four grandchildren. Ralph GlickRalph Glick of Scottsdale died July 10, 2001. He was 87. He was born in Latvia and moved to Arizona 29 years ago from Pennsylvania. He was a retired laborer at a packing plant, and was a member of the Phoenix Holocaust Survivors Association.Survivors include his wife, Henni; sons, Dan of Scottsdale and Ronald of Mesa; and four grandchildren. Services were held at Paradise Memorial Gardens, with Rabbi B. Charles Herring officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Bernard Charles FogelsonBernard Charles Fogelson, 95, husband, father and friend, died peacefully at his home July 2, 2001 surrounded by his entire family. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Ann; his children, David and Natasha Fogelson, Mark and Katrina Fogelson, Brenda and Howard Rosenthal; and grandchildren Aryn, Daniel, Naftali, Samantha, Davida, Alexandria, Madison, and Monica.Born to Max and Mary Fogelson in Chicago, IL Feb. 2, 1906, Bernard received his Pharmacy Degree from the University of Illinois and moved to Phoenix in 1948, to start Fogelson's Pharmacy. He met and married Patricia in 1958. Bernard served with multiple community and service organizations, including President of Temple Beth Israel, the Arthritis Foundation, and the Visiting Nurses. Additionally, Bernard was a 33rd Degree Mason, and active member of Temple Beth Joseph, Shriner's Children's Hospital, and Eastern Star. Services were held on Wednesday, July 4th at Sinai Mortuary Chapel. In honor of his passion for learning, dedication to Jewish education and spiritual leadership, please make contributions in his name to either the Phoenix Hebrew Academy, Temple Beth Israel, Jewish Federation of Greater Phoenix, or charity of your choice. Endowed with a brilliant mind and pure spirit, Bernard dedicated his life to his family and the community at large. The void of his absence will be filled with his cherished memory. Stephen A. MyersStephen A. Myers, age 57, passed away July 8, 2001 in Salmon, Idaho. He died of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was born in Des Moines, Iowa and had been a 32-year resident of Phoenix. He practiced law in the Valley for the past 30 years. He was Council for the Town of Carefree and had been a volunteer for Hospice of the Valley.Survivors include his wife Luci Roff, son Andrew Myers and stepson Jacob Roff, daughter Amy Furman and stepdaughter Jennifer Spiller, sister Marilyn Kubby, brother Lawrence Myers, and grandchildren Melanie and Ethan. Memorial services will be held Sunday, July 15th at 10:00 a.m. in Sinai Mortuary Chapel, 4538 N. 16th Street in Phoenix. Contributions in his memory are requested to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Rosenberg, age 92, passed away July 9, 2001 in the Town of Paradise Valley. He was born in Los Angeles, CA and moved to Phoenix in 1933. He was a retired banker. He served on the Phoenix City Council during the 1950s, was President of three different banks, past-President of the Arizona Bankers Association, founding member of the Phoenix Thunderbirds, founding member of the Valley of the Sun Kiwanis Club, founding President of Ballet Arizona and founding President of Phoenix Children's Hospital. He is survived by his son Robert G. Rosenberg, sister Jeanette Noonan, brother Joseph Howard, and grandson Hal Rosenberg. Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 11th in Sinai Mortuary Chapel.
