People on the moveMarvin M. Freeman, owner of a Phoenix-based public relations firm Marvin M. Freeman Creative Services, received a Presidential Award from the International Al Jolson Society. Freeman was recognized for his devotion to Jolson's memory, including his participation in a Memorial Day Weekend Salute to the thousands of troops that Jolson entertained during World War I, World War II and the Korean War.Risa Munitz-Gruberger has been named Dean of the Fingerhut School of Education at the University of Judaism. Munitz-Gruberger is the director of the Whizin Institute for Jewish Family Life at UJ and holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education from California State University, Northridge and a master's degree in Jewish education from UJ. Christine C. Iijima Hall was selected as the director of Employee Services for the Maricopa Community College District. Since July 2000, Hall has been the acting director. Her responsibilities include developing and administering human resources and policies that pertain to hiring, disciplinary action, employee and applicant complaints and mediation. Eleanor Dullas, board of directors member for the Area Agency on Aging, Region One, received the Morris Weingarten Award from the National Association of Retired Federal Employees for her long-term service to the association. Dullas will assume the position of District 1 Vice President and oversee three Phoenix chapters for the association. The Scottsdale Cultural Council Board of Directors elected new members on May 22. New members are: Venecia P. Anderson; Lyle Campbell; Richard Felder; Fran Mallace; Linda Milhaven; James E. Pederson; Marilyn Reinstein; Rana Schwartz; and Stanley S. Weithorn. Robert Alling was appointed vice president of operations. Chairman Richard Hayslips' term was extended for one year, enabling him to serve as immediate past-chairman. The board also appointed two new members to the Public Art and Collections Committee: Jeffrey M. Engelmann and Richard F. Shinar. The Rocky Mountain Southwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences inducted KAET engineering manager Joseph J. Manning into the Silver Circle Society in recognition of his contributions to the broadcast industry and more than 25 years of experience in the region. Manning is responsible for the engineering, production, operations and computer services departments and long-range planning of major projects for KAET broadcast services. |
