Obituaries

Doris Orlikoff

Doris Orlikoff of Phoenix died May 31, 2001. She was 82. She moved to Phoenix from Sioux City, Iowa, in 1960. She was a homemaker and a member of Temple Beth Israel, Order of the Eastern Star and a lifetime member of Hadassah.

Survivors include her sons, Michael of Phoenix and Steve of New York; and sister, Florence Blumenthal of Dallas.

Graveside services were held with Rabbi Albert Plotkin officiating. Arrangements were by Greer-Wilson Funeral Home.



Sol Hornstein

Sol Hornstein of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., died May 28, 2001. He was 87. He is survived by Barry Hornstein of Scottsdale. He was born in Bayonne, N.J., and was employed in the garment industry in New York. He was a member of Beth Tefillah Congregation in Fort Lauderdale, B'nai B'rith Lodge and Knight of Pythias.

Other survivors include his wife, Helen; and four grandchildren.

Services were held at Menorah Gardens in Fort Lauderdale. Contributions are suggested to Council for Jews with Special Needs, 32 W. Coolidge, Suite 102, Phoenix 85013.



Zelda Hoffman

Zelda Hoffman of Peoria died June 4, 2001. She was 81. She was born in Dayton, Ohio, and was a retired registrar for the city of Detroit. She was a member of Hadassah and the Jewish War Veterans Auxiliary.

Survivors include her daughters, Lorraine Raczkowksi of Glendale and Sandra Curnow of Walled Lake, Mich.; sister, Annette Goldberg of Birmingham, Mich.; brother, Marvin Copley of Bloomfield, Mich.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services were held in Michigan. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to American Lung Association, 102 W. McDowell Road, Phoenix 85003.



Jack Metz

Jack Metz of Phoenix died June 5, 2001. He was 93. He was born in Russia and moved to Arizona in 1944 from Cincinnati. He was the owner of Capital Cleaners in Phoenix for 35 years. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II, and was a member of Beth El Congregation.

Survivors include his wife, Debby; daughters, Miriam Johnson of Las Vegas, and Judy Matli of Yuba City, Calif.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Beth El Cemetery, with Rabbi Michael Wasserman officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to Beth El Congregation, 1118 W. Glendale Ave., Phoenix 85021.
