UAHC outreach director speaks at Temple Emanuel April 27-29

Arlene Chernow, the Union of American Hebrew Congregations (UAHC) regional outreach director for the Pacific Southwest Council, will be the scholar in residence for the weekend of April 27-29 at Temple Emanuel, 5801 S. Rural Road, Tempe.

As regional outreach director, Chernow helps develop programs that meet the needs of Jews-by-choice and intermarried couples and their families.

She will speak to the congregation, as well as present the Belin Outreach Award - for the temple's community outreach to unaffiliated or interfaith families - during Shabbat services, which start at 7:45 p.m. Friday.

She will also teach a workshop to help congregants become mentors for new converts after a Shabbat morning service and be the guest speaker for the Adult Education Carpool college at 9:30 a.m. Sunday.
