Obituaries

Emanuel Finkleman

Emanuel Marcus Finkleman of Winnipeg, Manitoba, died March 21, 2001. He was 92. He was the father of Nancy Hollenberg and Janis Harris, both of Phoenix. He was born in Winnipeg where he practiced optometry for more than 60 years. He was a governor of the National Theatre School of Canada, a member of the board of the National Arts Centre, and a member of the Jewish Historical Society, the university of Manitoba Alumni Association and Sigma Alpha Mu.

Other survivors include six grandchildren.

Services were held in Canada. Arrangements were by Shaarey Zedek Memorial Park in Winnipeg.



Sheila Ruth Adams

Sheila Ruth Adams, age 64, passed away April 4, 2001. She was born in Utica, N.Y. and moved to Scottsdale eight years ago from California.

She was a volunteer for Scottsdale Center for the Arts,a docent for the Phoenix Art Museum and a member of Temple Beth Israel.

Survivors include her companion Max Goldberg, sons David Rosenthal and Leonard (Nancy) Rosenthal, daughter Amy (Rick) Lieberman, sister Diane (Marvin) Schleifer and brother Alan (Laura) Smith and grandchildren Aaron, Claire and Elise Lieberman and Kyle, Clay and Blake Rosenthal also survive.

Graveside funeral services were held April 6th in Sccttsdale. Contributions in her memory are requested to Camp Charles Pearlstein Scholarhip Fund, c/o Temple Beth Israel, 10460 North 56th Street, Scottsdale, Arizona 85253. Arrangements by Sinai Mortuary.



Fannie (Faye) Baum

Fannie (Faye) Baum, 92, of Phoenix, died April 10, 2001. Faye was born June 17, 1908 in London, England. She was a former employee of Miracle Mile in Park Central.

Faye is preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Sam. She is survived by her children: Marilyn Schechtman and husband George of Phoenix, Harriet Mason and husband Ralph of Mesa, Robert Baum and wife Ann of Dayton, Ohio. Grandchildren include Vicki (deceased), Lori, Steven, Scott, Jeff, Sheri, Carolyn, Amy and Craig. Great-grandchildren include Eamonn, Michael, Jacob, Kelly, Ben and Jack.

Graveside services were held at Beth El Cemetery, 2300 W. Van Buren Street, Phoenix on Thursday, April 12th. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014 or Hadassah, 7000 E. Shea Blvd., #250, Scottsdale, AZ 85254. Arrangements by Sinai Mortuary.



Jean Davis

Jean Davis, age 82, passed away April 11, 2001. She was born in Cleveland, OH and moved to Phoenix from Canton, OH. She was a Valedictorian of Alliance High School in Alliance, OH, a member of Shaaray Torah Synagogue of Canton, OH, a member of Temple Chai in Phoenix, and a member of Hadassah. She and her husband founded Davis Wholesale Company in Canton, OH, where they worked side-by-side for over 35 years.

Survivors include her husband, Herman, of 54 years, daughter Tammy (Dennis) Schuman, son Marc (Nancy) Davis, and her grandchildren Jaime, Erica, Jeremy and Adam.

Funeral services and interment were held Thursday, April 12th. Shiva will be observed at the home of Tammy and Dennis Schuman. Contributions in her memory are requested to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014. Arrangements by Sinai Mortuary.



Erica Alexis Kluger

Erica Alexis Kluger, age 18, passed away April 6, 2001. She was a loving daughter of Carol Glassman and Barry Kluger, step-daughter of Hope Kirsch and Matthew Glassman, granddaughter of Lee and Len Kluger, Lorraine Shuster and the late Marvin Shuster, sister of Zachary and Alley Glassman, niece of Alan Kluger and Judge Amy Dean, Dr, Deborah Shuster and Tom Warren, Andra Shuster and Glenn Hugo and a friend of many. She loved dancing, music and was shining light to everyone who knew her and was touched by her. Her sense of humor, smile and love was infectious and her memory will endure forever. Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 10th. Contributions in her memory are requested to Erica Kluger Scholarship Fund, c/o The Stroud School of Dance, PO Box 1134, Stony Brook, N.Y. 11790.
