Temple Solel holds cantors' concert

"From 2nd Avenue to Broadway," the second annual Cantor's Concert at Temple Solel, will be held 7 p.m. Sunday, April 26, 6805 E. McDonald Drive, Paradise Valley.

The concert will include music from Yiddish theater, Broadway and Hollywood and will feature Cantor Julie Berlin of Temple Solel and Cantor Heather Feffer of Congregation Sinai in Milwaukee.

Berlin studied at the University of Illinois where she received a bachelor's degree in music education. She received a master's degree in Sacred Music at the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion (HUC-JIR),was invested as a cantor in 1996, and received a master's degree in Religious Education in 1997.

She joined Solel as its cantor in 1998.

Feffer was invested as a cantor from HUC-JIR and received awards in cantorial excellence, liturgy and academics. Last year she was the musical director and singer in "To Lift Ourselves Up: A History of Yiddish Theater in Milwaukee" at Theatre X in Milwaukee.

Cost is $15 in advance, $18 at the door and $10 for students. Call 480-991-7414.
