Obituaries

Martin Sincoff

Martin Sincoff of Tempe died Jan. 20, 2001. He was 74. He was born in Ludington, Mich., and was a teacher at Phoenix Union High School District and Mesa Community College.

Survivors include his sister, Leda; and brother, Joseph.

Services were held at Green Acres Mortuary. Arrangements were by Green Acres Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix 85014.



Jack Harris

Jack M. Harris of Sun City died Feb. 27, 2001. He was 87. He was born in Chicago. He was a chemical salesman and a member of Temple Beth Shalom Brotherhood, Endowment Committee and Publication Committee.

Survivors include his wife, Kate; sons, Jim and Nick; daughters, Judi Struminger, Ilene Allen and Sheryl Meitin; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services will be held 1 p.m., Friday, March 16, at Temple Beth Shalom. Arrangements were by Best Funeral Services. Contributions are suggested to Temple Beth Shalom Endowment Fund, 12202, N. 101st Ave., Sun City 85351.



Ruth Rubin

Ruth Rubin of Phoenix died Feb. 27, 2001. She was 87. She was born in New York City and moved to Arizona five years ago. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda Sandler of Phoenix; son, Jesse of Los Angeles; sister, Lily Brill of Washington, D.C.; brothers, Mike and Ossie Mersel, both of Miami; and four grandchildren.

Services were held at Green Acres Cemetery, with Rabbi William C. Berk officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to American Cancer Society, 2929 E. Thomas Road, Phoenix 85016; or Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix 85014.



Jeffrey Gold

Jeffrey C. Gold of Chandler died Feb. 28, 2001. He was 44. He was born in Chicago and moved to Arizona 13 years ago. He was a mental health counselor.

Survivors include his wife, Dena; daughters, Elizabeth of Chandler, Samantha of Apache Junction and Elijah of Athens, Ga.; son, Bradley of Chandler; parents, Frances and Joseph of Scottsdale; and brothers, Robert and Steven of Chicago.

Services were held at Paradise Memorial Gardens, with Rabbi Maynard Bell officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to Temple Solel, 6805 E. McDonald Drive, Paradise Valley 85253.



Ruth Gross

Ruth E. Gross of Sun City died March 2, 2001. She was 78. She was born in New York City and moved to Arizona 17 years ago from Colorado. She was a homemaker and served in the United States Navy in World War II. She was a member of Beth Emeth Congregation of Sun City West, Northwest Valley Jewish War Veterans Post #303, ORT and Hadassah.

Survivors include her husband, Lawrence; sons, Irving of West Haven, Conn., and Jeffrey of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and one grandchild.

Services were held in Sun City, with Rabbi Alan Bright officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to Beth Emeth Congregation, 13702 W. Meeker Blvd., Sun City West 85375; or Hadassah Valley of the Sun, 7000 E. Shea Blvd., #250, Scottsdale 85254.



Shirley Koplan

Shirley Koplan of Scottsdale died March 5, 2001. She was 70. She was born in Chicago and moved to Arizona three years ago. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Jack; sons, Marty and Jerry, both of Scottsdale; and six grandchildren.

Services were held at Green Acres Cemetery, with Rabbi Lisa Tzur officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to American Cancer Society (Colon Cancer Research), 2929 E. Thomas Road, Phoenix 85016.
