Ellen R. Buchbinder has been hired as an account executive at Jewish News of Greater Phoenix. Buchbinder, an honors graduate and former instructor in the management department at Simmons College in Boston, has a high level of business experience including five years with Comdex. She is a native of Newton Centre, Mass., and relocated to Scottsdale two years ago.

Peak Restaurant Management Group is assuming the management role for the Rawhide Steakhouse, Rawhide Catering and Rawhide Western Cookouts in Scottsdale.

Fern Asallas of Scottsdale was nominated for Teacher of the Year by the Veterans of Foreign Wars in recognition of her dedication to teaching patriotism in the classroom at Peoria High School.

Michael K. McCartney, president and CEO of M&I Marshall & Ilsley Trust Company of Arizona, has been named to the bank's board of directors.

The Montecito, a retirement community in Peoria, will hold a community grand opening Saturday, Feb. 24 at 17271 N. 87th Ave.
