Obituaries

Charles Trepper

Charles "Chuck" Howard Trepper of Fort Lee, N.J., died Jan. 30, 2001. He was 37. He was the son of Sandra and Richard Trepper of Scottsdale. He was born in Patterson, N.J., and was an author and lecturer on information technology and training, and president and CEO of The Trepper Group.

Other survivors include his wife, Connie; and brother, Michael.

Graveside services were held, with Rabbi Mark J. Bisman and Hazzan Devin Goldenberg officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to Har Zion Congregation New Building Fund, 6140 E. Thunderbird Road, Scottsdale 85254.



Evelyn Kassell

Evelyn Abigail Kassell of Scottsdale died Feb. 6, 2001. She was 80. She was born in New York City and moved to Arizona 24 years ago.

Survivors include her husband, Martin; daughter, Stephanie of Scottsdale; son, Neal of Charlottesville, Va.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Sinai Mortuary Chapel, with Rabbi Norbert Samuelson officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary.



Israel Smith

Israel Smith of Phoenix died Jan. 20, 2001. He was 90. He was born in Toronto, Ontario, and moved to Arizona 13 years ago from California. He was a retired professor of social welfare at San Francisco University and administrator of the United Way of California. He was appointed to the California Board of Social Work Examiners by Gov. Ed Brown.

Survivors include his wife, Arlene; daughters, Linda Riles of St. Louis and Judy Stecks of San Diego; son, Roger of Venezuela; stepdaughter, Bobbie Gruber of Phoenix; stepsons, Fred Goldman of Phoenix, and Elli Gorman of Kauai, Hawaii; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Sinai Mortuary Chapel, with Rabbi Albert Plotkin officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to United Way, 1515 E. Osborn Road, Phoenix 85014.



Minna Weinberg

Minna R. Weinberg of Glendale died Feb. 4, 2001. She was 73. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and came to Arizona 21 years ago from York, Penn. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, David; daughter, Robin Korman of New York City; son, Neil of New Jersey; and three grandchildren.

Services were held at Sinai Mortuary Chapel. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to American Lung Association, 102 W. McDowell Road, Phoenix 85003.



Sol R. Handelman

Sol R. Handelman, died February 5, 2001 in Phoenix, AZ. He was widower of Berthe Handelman; father of Marsha Jo Nicolls; and grandfather of Jason Brent and Evan Grant Nicolls.
Arrangements by Sinai Mortuary.



Lee A. Rundbaken

Lee A. Rundbaken, of Scottsdale, AZ. Formerly of Mequon. Loving husband of Barbara. Father of Dr. Craig Rundbaken and Tracy Carter. Grandfather of Ariel and Matthew. He was a dedicated family man who was loved and respected for his undying commitment to those he loved. Lee was a chemical engineer graduate of North Carolina State and received his doctorate from Fordham University. He was in international purchasing for General Electric. Upon his retirement he went on to become vice president of B.E., Inc. He was highly respected both here and abroad for his fairness and integrity, professionally and personally.
