Valley kids' poetry in national mag

Five pupils at the Pardes Jewish Day School have become published writers.

Poems written by Jillian Rosenblum, Russell Hansen, Lauren Bruno, Adrian Braude and Ben Mizel are featured in the January 2001 issue of "Winner Magazine."

The poems, all on the topic of why drugs are bad, are printed on the back page of the magazine in a section titled "Poetry Day."

The publication for middle school students "focuses on the dangers of drugs and presents articles which stress social skills and real-world problem solving situations," says Toby Indech, communications chairwoman for the Pardes School.

The sixth-graders wrote the poems last year, in teacher Denise Garfinkel's fifth grade class.
