Songwriter to perform here

Singer, songwriter and guitarist Debbie Friedman will perform in concert 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15, at Scottsdale Center for the Arts, 7380 E. Second St.

Friedman has recorded 17 albums and has performed in hundreds of cities in the United States, Canada, Europe and Israel.

The concert is sponsored by the Arizona Association of Jewish Executive Directors and Administrators.

In addition to her work as a composer and performer, Friedman is active in the areas of Jewish education and synagogue life. Music from her Hebrew curriculum and her Jewish holiday curriculum have become standards - especially the popular "Aleph Bet" song. A native of St. Paul, Minn., Friedman has taught and directed educational and youth programs in Chicago, St. Louis and Houston. Friedman teaches workshops, directs a 300-person chorale, performs in concert and spiritually inspires the several thousand delegates who attend the Conference on Alternatives in Jewish Education sponsored by CAJE each year.

Tickets are $25, $36 and $54.

Tickets are available at Beth El Congregation, Har Zion Congregation, Temple Beth Israel, Temple Chai, Temple Emanuel, Temple Kol Ami and Temple Solel.
