Temple Chai has elected Karen Goodman as its new president. New members of the board of directors are Marlene Hyman, Paul Blum, Joyce Opria, Francine Sumner and Isy Sonabend.

Paul Rubin of Tucson, Southern Arizona director of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union, has been elected chairman of the Arizona Chapter of the Jewish Labor Committee. Herman Brown of Sun Lakes was elected vice chairman and Stanley Lubin of Phoenix as counsel.

Joseph Tauman recently opened Desert Breeze Shuttle, a service that provides transportation to Sky Harbor Airport and other destinations for up to nine people. The company serves Anthem, Carefree, Cave Creek, Desert Hills, New River and North Scottsdale.

Dan Pattir, a spokesman for former Israeli prime ministers Yitzhak Rabin and Menachem Begin, has been appointed executive vice president for The Abraham Fund, a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing coexistence between Israel's Jewish and Arab citizens.

Suzanna Eller has been named counseling and activities director at The Summit, an independent and assisted living community in Seattle. She is the daughter of Bobbi and Richard Eller of Phoenix.

Eller received a bachelor's degree in psychology from Brandeis University, and a masters in counseling, dance therapy and drama therapy from Antioch University's Keene, N.H., campus.

Jason Merrill has been named sous chef for Lon's at the Hermosa restaurant in Paradise Valley.

KAET-TV/Channel 8 has added two members to its management team. John Menzies is new creative services manager and Helen Carroll is the manager of news and public affairs.

Scottsdale Healthcare honored three Valley women with "Spirit of Women" awards at a Dec. 15 breakfast. Kristen Evenson received the award in the Youth category; Catherine Midgette received the award in the Healthcare category; and Frances Mills-Yerger received the award in the Community category.

James R. Anderson has been designated an accredited senior appraiser by the American Society of Appraisers. He is director of business valuation and litigation support services with American Express Tax and Business Services, Inc.

Scott B. Cohen and Mark D. Dillion have been named partners in the law firm of Sacks Tierney, P.A. of Scottsdale. Cohen practices in the areas of commercial bankruptcy, creditors' rights and commercial litigation. Dillion practices in the areas of employment law and general commercial litigation.

Victoria M. Avilez has joined the firm's litigation group, and Amy Lynne Locklear has joined the corporate group.

Scottsdale Community College has hired John Neibling as dean of instruction. Neibling has a doctor of education degree from Arizona State University and previously served as vice president for learning at San Juan College in Farmington, N.M.
