Community school breaks ground

Groundbreaking for The Jess Schwartz Jewish Community High School is set for 12:15 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 7, on the grounds of Temple Chai, 4645 E. Marilyn Road, Phoenix.

A 7,000-square-foot building on the temple grounds is slated for completion in August 2001, in time for the school inaugural fall session for ninth- and 10th-grade classes.

The high school eventually will move to a permanent location at the Ida Levine Jewish Community Campus located at Scottsdale Road and Sweetwater Avenue in Scottsdale.

Although the interim facility will be at Temple Chai, the school is not affiliated with the temple.

Call 602-953-7620.
