Family tree

David Foster, chairman of the Department of Languages and Literatures at Arizona State University, will discuss Margo Glantz's "The Family Tree" at Temple Beth Israel, 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, at the temple, 10460 N. 56th St., Scottsdale.

Glantz is a professor of Mexican literature at the National University in Mexico City and a noted researcher. Her family biography showcases the paradoxical situation of being a Jew in Mexico, playing a major part in the economic and intellectual life of the country but being virtually invisible as a Jew.

The series, presented in conjunction with ASU, and funded by a grant from Hedy and Hy Slepicoff.
