YLD sponsors array of events

The Young Leadership Division of the Jewish Federation of Greater Phoenix is sponsoring a variety of December events.

A recruitment meeting for the United Jewish Communities Western Region Young Leadership Outreach Conference is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, at the federation office, 32 W. Coolidge in Phoenix.

The conference will be Feb. 16-18 at the downtown Hyatt Regency. Scholar-in-residence is Rabbi Edward M. Feinstein of Valley Beth Shalom in Encino, Calif., and Shabbat services will feature musical guest Craig Taubman. Conference cost is $295, including meals and program.

Also, on Friday Dec. 15, YLD is sponsoring "Shabbat Sharing," with members opening their homes for Shabbat dinner.

The group is holding a Hanukkah party at Kivel Geriatric Center, 1:45-4:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17. Participants will meet in the Care Center lobby and spend time with the residents. Kids are encouraged; dogs are discouraged.

Kivel is at 3020 N. 36th St., Phoenix.

To attend YLD events, call Rachel Richter, 602-274-1800, ext. 133, or e-mail rrichter@jewishphoenix.org. Deadlines: "Shabbat Sharing," Monday, Dec. 11; the Hanukkah party, Friday, Dec. 15.
