Obituaries

Ruth Ann Freedman

Ruth Ann Freedman of Scottsdale died Nov. 30, 2000. She was 88. She was born in Omaha, Neb., and moved to Arizona 30 years ago. She was a travel agent for Travel Destination of Scottsdale and a member of Temple Chai and NA'AMAT.

Survivors include her daughter, Marlyne of Phoenix; sons, Marvin of Santa Monica, Calif., and Sanford of Auburn, Maine; sisters, Dorothy Bell of Kansas City, Mo., Lee Roffman of Philadelphia, and Zelda Garber of Boca Raton, Fla.; brothers, Irvin White of Beverly Hills, Calif., and Herbert White of Denver; and seven grandchildren.

Services were held at Sinai Mortuary Chapel, with Rabbi William Berk, Rabbi Lisa Tzur and Cantor Sharona Feller officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to Temple Chai, 4645 E. Marilyn Road, Phoenix 85032.



Tessie Kutner

Tessie Kutner of Glendale died Dec. 1, 2000. She was 80. She was born in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and moved to Arizona 21 years ago from California. She was a retired bookkeeper.

Survivors include her daughters, Joan Meltz and Dorothy, both of Glendale; son, Neil of Mahopac, N.Y.; sister, Fran Schuller, of Stuart, Fla.; and four grandchildren.

Services were held at Phoenix Memorial Park, with Rabbi Albert Plotkin officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to American Diabetes Association, 9034 N. 23rd Ave., #8, Phoenix 85021.



Ida Levine

Ida Goldberg Levine of Scottsdale died Dec. 2, 2000. She was born in Milwaukee, and moved to Arizona 15 years ago from New York City. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her daughters, Marsha Schwam-Cotton of Jersey City, N.J., and Shari Sachar of New York City; son, Michael of Goodyear; brothers, David and Eddie Goldberg of Milwaukee; and four grandchildren.

Services were held at Green Acres Cemetery. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to American Cancer Society, 2929 E. Thomas Road, Phoenix 85016.



Ann Goodman

Ann Goodman of Waddell died Dec. 3, 2000. She was 93. She was born in New York City and moved to Arizona 65 years ago. She was a retired electronics supervisor.

Survivors include her grandson, Clay of Waddell; granddaughters, Ellen Preston of St. Forget, France, and Melanie Buros of San Diego; and four great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Beth Israel Cemetery. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix 85014.



Maurice Feld

Maurice Feld of Phoenix died Dec. 4, 2000. He was 77. He was born in Cleveland and moved to Arizona 53 years ago from Pennsylvania. He was a retired merchant and served in the U.S. Army 893rd Destroyer Battalion in World War II. He was a member of Beth El Congregation.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria; daughter, Kathy Rodenstein of Phoenix; son, David of Phoenix; and three grandchildren.

Services were held at Beth El Cemetery, with Rabbi Michael Wasserman officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to Beth El Congregation, 1118 W. Glendale Ave., Phoenix 85021; or Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix 85014.



David Levin

David M. Levin, M.D., of Phoenix died Dec. 5, 2000. He was 98. He was born in Russia and was a retired physician. He was a major in the Army Medical Corps in World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Channie; daughters, Miriam Sokolow and Eve Tutnick, both of Phoenix; brother, Jack of Tamarack, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
