Obituaries

William Arbitman

William A. Arbitman of Scottsdale died Nov. 5, 2000. He was 63.

He was born in Providence, R.I. He was a retired vice president, associate general counsel and assistant secretary at the Dial Corporation. He was a member of Temple Solel.

Survivors include his wife, Ann; daughter, Lisa of Scottsdale; and son, Nathan of San Francisco.

Services were held at Temple Solel, with Rabbi Alan Berlin officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary.

Roseline Birenbaum

Roseline R. Birenbaum of Phoenix died Nov. 1, 2000. She was 80.

She was born in Youngstown, Ohio, and moved to Arizona four years ago from Florida. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her sons, Joel of Phoenix; Steven of Scarsdale, N.Y.; brother, Carl Hamburg of Pittsburgh; and two grandchildren.

Services were held at Beth Israel Cemetery. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary.

Gail Drubin

Gail Drubin of Sun City West died Nov. 4, 2000. She was 61.

She was born in Yonkers, N.Y. She was an owner and operator of a pet kennel for 20 years. She was a member of Hadassah, oneg Shabbat group, secretary for four bowling leagues and bowled in six leagues.

Survivors include her husband, Gilbert; daughters, Robin of San Diego and Randi of Peoria; sister, Frances Schwartz of New Jersey; brothers, Ralph Langer of Old Bethpage, N.Y., and Gary Langer of Tuckahoe, N.Y.

Services were held at Sunland Lakeside Chapel. Arrangements were by Sunland Mortuary.

Richard Horwitz

Richard Allen Horwitz of Phoenix died Nov. 4, 2000. He was 44.

He was born in Buffalo, N.Y., and moved to Arizona from Ohio.

Survivors include his wife, Christina; daughter, Rachel of Phoenix; stepson, Jonathan; parents, Jerome and Myrna of Surprise; and brothers, Sanford and Ronald, both of Scottsdale.

Services were held at Memorial Park Cemetery, with Rabbi David Pinkwasser officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary.

Contributions are suggested to Alcoholics Anonymous, 4602 N. Seventh St., Phoenix 85014.



Gertrude Kriegel

Gertrude "Trudy" Kriegel of Laguna Hills, Calif., died Nov. 1, 2000. She was 86.

She was born in England and was a Phoenix resident for 50 years. She was retired from the Arizona Corporation Commission, where she worked for 20 years.

Survivors include her daughter, Sheila Katz of Laguna Hills; son, Bernard of San Francisco; sister, Ida May Coen of La Jolla, Calif.; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Beth El Cemetery, with Rabbi Lisa Tzur officiating.

Louis Lifschultz

Louis Lipman Lifschultz of Sun City West died Nov. 4, 2000. He was 88.

He was born in Chicago and moved to Arizona 11 years ago from Illinois. He owned a home improvement company, and served in the U.S. Army in World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Naomi; and daughter, Linda of Scottsdale.

Services were held at Sunland Memorial Park. Arrangements were by Sunland Mortuary.



Pamela Roth

Pamela Roth of Scottsdale died Nov. 3, 2000. She was 62.

She was born in England. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Leonard; daughters, Ilene Gerston and Amy and Karen, all of Scottsdale; son, Michael of Scottsdale; and two grandchildren.

Services were held at Paradise Memorial Gardens, with Rabbi David Pinkwasser officiating.

Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary.



Belle Scissors

Belle E. Scissors of St. Louis died Nov. 1, 2000.

Survivors include her daughter, Rita Hendin of Phoenix; son, Philip of Phoenix; and five grandchildren.

Services were held at Chesed Shel Emeth Cemetery in University City, Mo. Arrangements were by Berger Memorial Service



Leah Sidon

Leah Buros Sidon of Scottsdale died Nov. 7, 2000. She was 84.

She was born in Jonesboro, Ark. She was a homemaker and a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Art.

Survivors include her daughters, Wendy Sunshine of Scottsdale and Gay Kleinberg of Forest Knolls, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

Services were held at Beth Israel Cemetery. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary.

Violet Wolfe

Violet Wolfe of Scottsdale died Nov. 5, 2000. She was 78.

She was born in Chicago. She was a homemaker and was a member of Chabad Lubavitch.

Survivors include her daughters, Myrna Oliver and Arlene Stafford, both of Ketchum, Idaho; and sons, Michael of Phoenix and Greg of Sedona.

Services were held at Phoenix Memorial Park, with Rabbi Zalman Levertov officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary.
