People on the moveThe Valley of the Sun Jewish Community Center has named its new officers for the board of directors: Joel Kramer, chairman; Steve Hilton, Gary Jaburg and Robert Silver, vice chairmen; Randi Sherman, secretary/treasurer; and Jay Zweig, immediate past president. Board members are Richard Dobrusin, Jeff Goulder, Irwin Kanefsky, Lanny Lahr, Andi Maron, Nate Sachs, Andrew Schwartz, Daniel Sharaby, Kimberly Shacknai, Beth Shapiro, David Sherman and Gary Weiss.The Phoenix Holocaust Survivors' Association has named its officers and directors for 2000/2001. Officers are David Kader, president, first generation; Helen Handler, vice president, second generation; Anna Cohen, vice president; Paul Wieser, recording secretary; Carl Ofisher, correspondence secretary; and Barbara Firer, treasurer. Directors are Harry Adler, Ella Adler, William Koenig, Anna Koenig, Stephen Lerman, Clare Lerman, Joan Sitver and Ernie Wininger. Dr. Martin Keller of Phoenix has been certified as a Diplomate in Professional Psychotherapy by the International Academy of Behavioral Medicine. Keller specializes in psychotherapy and consultation with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. Ron Glass is the new senior library services consultant for Online Computer Library Center (OCLC). Glass was formerly the network services librarian at the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records. Sam Post, LUTCF and Revere Financial Services have joined the Pollakov Financial Group and MassMutual as their newest district office. They have relocated to 5125 N. 16th St., Suite B-226, Phoenix 85016. Ivan Seidenberg, president and co-chief executive officer of Verizon, will be awarded the Louis Marshall Award on Tuesday, Nov. 28, in New York. The award honors people who demonstrate a concern for social justice and outstanding qualities of ethics and communal service. The Shaare Zedek Jerusalem Medical Center will honor Dr. Ronald and Channah Hershman with the Rofeh Award; Ricky and Faith Schwartz with the Chesed Award; and Rebbetzin Ruth Swift with the Aishet Chayil Award at its 44th annual dinner on Tuesday, Nov. 14, at the Sheraton New York hotel. Daniel Asa Rose has been named the new Arts and Culture Editor of The Forward, a Jewish weekly newspaper. The Custom Slipcover Studio, a retail custom slipcover store , recently opened at 3637 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix. Vickey Sarantis has joined Summit Builders as director of marketing. |
