Immigrant comedy

"An American Jewish Inheritance: 1960s to Present," part of a series of mini-courses at Temple Beth Israel, will be 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, at the temple, 10460 N. 56th St., Scottsdale.

Despite the rapidity of Jewish Americanization, and the loss of an immigrant language, succeeding generations have retained a strong connection to the various patterns of immigrant comedy. The lecture includes sound recordings of Lenny Bruce, Joan Rivers, Carl Reiner and Mel Brooks.

The series is in conjunction with Arizona State University and is provided by a grant from Hedy and Hy Slepicoff.
