ObituariesDavid GeigermanDavid J. Geigerman of Phoenix died Sept. 18, 2000. He was 79. He was born in Milwaukee. He was a retired anesthesiologist. He served as a colonel in the Army medical corps in the Philippines during World War II. He was retired from the Army Reserve and the National Guard and volunteered at Luke Air Force Base. He was the past president of the Oklahoma State Anesthesiology Association. Survivors include his daughter, Miriam Acquafredda of Phoenix; sons, Louis of Sugarland, Texas, and Michael of Creve Coeur, Mo.; sister, Evelyn Miller of Dallas; and five grandchildren. Services were held in Phoenix, with Rabbi Laibel Blotner officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to Chabad Lubavitch Center, 2110 E. Lincoln Drive, Phoenix 85016; or Jewish War Veterans Post #194 in Phoenix. Sanford LavenSanford "Sandy" W. Laven of Scottsdale died Sept. 19, 2000. He was 75. He was born in Cleveland and was a salesman for Paddock Pool Company. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Bernice; daughters, Marcia Davis of Beverly Hills, Calif., and Michele Feldman of Phoenix; son, Steve of Phoenix; and five grandchildren. Graveside services were held at Green Acres Cemetery with Rabbi Alan Berlin officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association, 2929 S. 48th St., Tempe 85282. Elizabeth DrozElizabeth Ann Droz of Scottsdale died Sept. 18, 2000. She was 55. She was born in Detroit and was a public school teacher in Southfield, Mich. She was a member of Har Zion Congregation. Survivors include her husband, Howard; daughter, Judith of Phoenix; and son, Eric of Scottsdale. Services were held at Sinai Mortuary Chapel with Rabbi Mark Bisman and Hazzan Devin Goldenberg officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to Multiple Sclerosis Society, 315 S. 48th St., Suite 101, Tempe 85281. Dorothy KoppelmanDorothy Barocas Koppelman of Princeton, N.J., died Sept. 16, 2000. She was 82. She was the mother of Vicki Cabot of Phoenix. She was born in New York City and was principal of the Temple Micah Religious School. She served on the board of directors of The Center for Jewish Life, Princeton; United Jewish Appeal; and American Jewish Committee and its leadership council. She and her husband endowed the Holocaust Center at Rider University. Other survivors include her husband, Julius; daughters, Nancy of Wynnewood, Pa., Estelle Blumberg of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Marcia Moor of South Natick, Mass.; brothers, Ralph Barocas of Potomac, Md., and Joseph Barocas of Delray Beach, Fla.; sisters, Eleanor Pellman of New York City, Mathilda Friedman of Baltimore, and Rita Levin of Glen Rock, N.J.; and 10 grandchildren. Services were held at Congregation Beth Chaim in New Jersey, with Rabbis Eric Wisnia, Elliot Strom and Selig Salkowitz officiating. Arrangements were by Orland's Ewing Memorial Chapel.
