Nonmembers invited to holiday prayer

Several Valley congregations will open their doors to nonmembers for the High Holidays.

Rosh Hashana begins at sunset on Friday, Sept. 29, and continues through sunset Sunday, Oct. 1.

Yom Kippur begins at sunset on Sunday, Oct. 8, and continues through sunset Monday, Oct. 9.

Chabad of the East Valley will hold Rosh Hashana services at the Wyndham Garden Hotel, 7475 W. Chandler Blvd., Chandler and Yom Kippur services at the Windmill Inn, 3535 W. Chandler Blvd., Chandler.

Chabad of Scottsdale will hold Rosh Hashana services at Chabad of Scottsdale, 10215 N. Scottsdale Road, Scottsdale. Yom Kippur services will be held at Holiday Inn Sunspree, 7601 E. Indian Bend Road, Scottsdale.

Congregation Bais Menachem will hold Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur services at Chabad-Lubavitch of Phoenix, 2110 E. Lincoln Drive, Phoenix.

Chabad of the West Valley offers High Holiday services at 5330 W. Union Hills Drive, Glendale. Call 602-504-2178.
Services at all Chabad congregations are free.

The Desert Foothills Jewish Community Association will hold Rosh Hashana services at the El Pedregal Tohono Conference Center, Scottsdale Road and Carefree Highway, Scottsdale. Yom Kippur services will be held at the Cactus Shadows Fine Arts Center, 60th Street, south of Carefree Highway, Scottsdale. Tickets are $75. To reserve seats, send a check to DFJCA, 34522 N. The Northwest Valley Jewish Family Alliance will hold a Rosh Hashana service, a Yom Kippur service and a break-the-fast at Canyon Elementary School, 5490 W. Paradise Lane, Glendale.

Or Adam Congregation for Humanistic Judaism will hold services at the Scottsdale Civic Center Library Auditorium, 3839 Civic Center Blvd. Tickets are $36 for adults and $18 for children.

Temple Beth Sholom offers tickets for $100-$150 for adults. Tickets are free for military personnel and students. The synagogue is at 3400 N. Dobson Road, Chandler.

Temple Emanuel of Tempe offers free services for the second day of Rosh Hashana.The temple is at 5801 S. Rural Road. Call 480-838-1414.

Hillel will hold Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur services at the Memorial Union on the Arizona State University campus in Tempe. Services are free for students, $75 for others. Call 480-967-7563.

Chevra, a group of young adults ages 21-30 will hold a Rosh Hashana service on Saturday, Sept. 30. at the Hillel Student Center, 1012 S. Mill Ave, Tempe. A New Year's party will follow. Admission is a non-perishable food item.
