Shofar Factory blows into town

At the Chabad of the East Valley Shofar Factory, Jews of all ages will have the opportunity to participate in a hands-on workshop to craft their own shofar. The event is 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21 at Zany Brainy Children's store, I-10 and Ray Road, Ahwatukee.

The factory will also be running 11 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 24, at the Lubavitch Hebrew School, at La Petite Academy, 6185 W. Detroit St., Chandler.

Visitors will learn what criteria an animal's horn must meet to qualify as a genuine shofar, and also have the chance to saw, drill, sand, shellac and polish one.

Cost is $6 to make a shofar, but there is no charge to watch.

The Shofar Factory is also touring local Jewish day schools.

Call 480-753-5366.
