Options for nonmembers

For those who need a place to go for high holiday services there are a number of alternatives. Generally, full-time students and military personnel are welcome at no charge. Those who are members elsewhere may qualify for reciprocal tickets. Other alternatives include:

Attendance at special open or communitywide services - Beth El Congregation opens services on erev Rosh Hashana, the second day of Rosh Hashana and for a community yizkor (memorial) service on Yom Kippur. Temple Chai welcomes the community the second day of Rosh Hashana. Tickets are not required for children's services at Temple Beth Israel. Beth Emeth Congregation of the Northwest Valley and Temple Beth Shalom and Jewish Community Center of the Northwest Valley do not require tickets for yizkor.

Purchasing tickets at area congregations - Many have a limited number of seats available for purchase with prices ranging from $75-$200 per person depending on the congregation. These congregations include: Har Zion Congregation, Temple Emanuel of Tempe, Beth Emeth Congregation, Temple Beth Sholom, Temple Kol Ami, Temple Solel and Temple Beth Ami. Also, Hillel at Arizona State University and the newly formed Northwest Valley Jewish Family Alliance, 623-566-8815, have seats.

Invitations to attend services without tickets - Chabad centers throughout the Valley, Ruach Hamidbar-Spirit of the Desert and Agudat Achim, all welcome worshipers at no charge, but donations are appreciated.

Free tickets - Jewish Family and Children's Service disburses tickets donated by area congregations with a "no questions asked" policy. Contact Jodi Tilsner, 602-257-1904, ext. 247.
