Obituaries

Shirley Dropkin

Shirley Dropkin of Sun City West died Aug. 19, 2000. She was 77.

She was born in Newark, N.J., and moved to Arizona in 1985. She was a secretary and a member of SCW Mahjong & Canasta Club, Westernaires Singing and Hadassah.

Survivors include her husband, Clifford; sons, Howard of Scottsdale and David of Newark, Ohio; sister, Myra Geiger of Sun City West; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Sunland Lakeside Chapel. Arrangements were by Sunland Mortuary.

Dora Gurland

Dora Gurland of Scottsdale died Aug. 14, 2000. She was 88.

She was born in Passaic, N.J. She was a public school teacher.

Survivors include her daughters, Sandy Belfer of Arizona and Marlene Lipman of Massachusetts; and four grandchildren.

Services were held in New Jersey. Arrangements were by Green Acres Mortuary.



Jeanne Marshall

Jeanne Marshall of Phoenix died Aug. 20, 2000. She was 82.

She was born in New York City. She was the cultural editor for the Voice of America.

Survivors include her sister, Carolyn Woolf.

Services were private, with Rabbi Barry Cohen officiating. Arrangements were by Aaron Cremation and Burial.

Contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix 85014.



Barbara Sugar

Barbara B. Sugar of Phoenix died Aug. 21, 2000. She was 70.

She was born in Canada. She was a homemaker and a member of Temple Beth Israel and Hadassah.

Survivors include her husband, Jack; daughters, Susan James of Phoenix and Karen Carlsgaard of Denver; brother, Melvin Lieberman of Toronto; and two grandchildren.

Services were held at Beth Israel Cemetery, with Rabbi Kenneth I. Segal officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary.

Contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix 85014.
