Singing, dancing extravaganza visits Valley

The Israel Friendship Caravan, made up of teenagers from Israel, will make appearances at four Valley synagogues in July.

Each summer, a delegation of teenagers travels to North America to represent Israel. The delegation is composed of youth leaders and counselors from the Israel Scouts Movement.

The group performs an hour-long show of Hebrew songs (most of which are translated into English) and dances by top Israeli directors. During the show, the audience participates in dances and cheers led by Caravan members. After the show, Caravan members meet with the audience and form small discussion groups.

The Caravan will first perform 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, at Har Zion Congregation, 6140 E. Thunderbird Road, Scottsdale. The free show is sponsored by the Young Leadership Division of the Jewish Federation of Greater Phoenix. A dessert reception will follow, dietary laws observed. To attend, call 602-274-1800, ext. 147.

The caravan will also appear 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, at Temple Beth Shalom of the Northwest Valley, 12202 101st Ave., Sun City. Doors open at 6 p.m. Call 623-977-3240.

Other appearances are 8 p.m. Saturday, July 15, at Temple Chai, 4645 E. Marilyn Road, Phoenix (Call 602-971-1234) and 7 p.m. Sunday, July 16, at Temple Solel, 6805 E. McDonald Drive, Paradise Valley. Call 480-991-7414.
