People on the moveI. Jerome Hirsch, businessman and real estate developer, recently received a Distinguished Achievement Award from Arizona State University College of Law. Hirsch, past president of Rawhide, is the founder and chairman of Social Venture Partners Arizona and chairman of the Lodestar Foundation. He serves on the boards of numerous community organizations including Central Arizona Shelter Services, Homeward Bound and Advocates for the Disabled.Jeff Hampl, Ph.D., R.D., of Phoenix, has been selected as a national media spokesman for the American Dietetic Association. A research scientist and ADA member since 1994, Hampl has been active in all levels of the association. Hampl earned his doctorate in nutrition at the University of Nebraska. He received a bachelor's degree in biology at Liberty University and completed a master's degree in clinical laboratory sciences at the University of Massachusetts. Currently he is working on a second master's degree in Public Health at the University of Arizona. Florence Belon received the female volunteer of the year award at the annual meeting of Temple Beth Israel in Scottsdale. The male volunteer of the year was Sol Moretsky. Al Reznik, president of the Chavurah, was granted the Burt Kruglick Temple Beth Israel Board of Directors Worker of the Year award. Gifts were presented to the outgoing president of the congregation, Herman Lewkowitz; and to three Board of Directors members whose terms are completed: Howard Erlick, Wendy Kelman, and Meyer Turken. The Heard Museum has announced its new trustees elected to three-year terms. They include attorneys James T. Bialac and Richard Faletti; Arizona State University West provost Elaine Maimon; former Arizona Commission on the Arts President Jane Jozoff; Jack Parker, director emeritus for General Electric Company; Matthew Crow, president and CEO of Grossman Company Properties; DELSTAR Group President and CEO Pam Del Duca; and Dr. John Molina, director of the Last Fuentes Health Clinic of Guadalupe. Scott Eller and Joel Harnett, businessman J. Kirk Sullivan and interior designer Jamie Lendrum were elected to initial terms of office. David J. Bogart has joined Wells Fargo Securities and Private Client Services as senior vice president and private client manager. His offices will be located in Phoenix and Sun City. Bogart is active in Youth Etc., a local charity for children, and the Valley of the Sun United Way. Bernie Siegel of New York has joined Yazam, a leader in international seed-stage investing and business development to emerging Internet and technology start-ups, as executive vice president and chief financial officer. Siegel handles the firm's worldwide operations, including financial and regulatory reporting. Siegel joins Yazam after serving as senior vice president, chief financial officer and director of risk management with Wit Capital Group Inc. Pat Pollok has been named national director of fund development for Women's American ORT. She was previously with Gay Men's Health Crisis (GMHC), as managing director of development, during which she raised $950,000 for AIDS concerns. She was also director of development with the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse (CASA) at Columbia University; and development consultant for both Planned Parenthood and SHARE, the self-help organization for women with breast or ovarian cancers. Pollock resides in New York with her husband, John, a criminal lawyer. John A. Woods has joined Wells Fargo Securities and Private Client Services as a financial consultant. He will assist individuals and companies with coordinated financial planning. A native of Mesa, Woods earned his bachelor's degree in business administration at the University of New Mexico. |
