Obituaries

Lois Gottlieb

Lois Frances (Klein-Brickley) Gottlieb of Scottsdale died May 2, 2000. She was 71.

She was born in Bridgeport, Conn., and moved to Arizona 25 years ago from Connecticut. She was a member of Temple Beth Ami and a volunteer at Scottsdale Healthcare, Osborn Campus.

Survivors include her husband, A. Matthew; daughters, Shari Sanderford of Edison, N.J., and Susan Finks of Phoenix; sons, Gary Klein of Sacramento, Calif., George Klein of Indianapolis, Ind., and Robert Gottlieb of Westford, Mass.; brother, Martin Wollner of Bridgeport; and five grandchildren.

Services were held at Sinai Mortuary Chapel, with Rabbi Frederick Grosse officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary.

Contributions are suggested to the Lois Frances Gottleib Fund at Temple Beth Ami, 4545 N. 36th St., Phoenix 85018.



Lillian Roedel

Lillian Roedel of Phoenix died May 3, 2000. She was 94.

She was born in New Haven, Conn., and moved to Arizona 43 years ago from Los Angeles. She was a homemaker, was active in Sabra Hadassah, City of Hope, ORT and CARIH, and was selected as Woman of the Year for her Hadassah group in 1975.

Survivors include her daughter, Fritzie Acheson of Phoenix; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held at Phoenix Memorial Park. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary.

Rose Rosenberg

Rose Rosenberg of Paradise Valley died May 4, 2000. She was 93.

She was born in Nashville, Tenn., and moved to Arizona 67 years ago from California. She was a homemaker, past president of Hadassah, a former touring docent of Phoenix Art Museum, and a former member of the Phoenix Planning and Zoning Commission and of the Phoenix Library board.

Survivors include her husband, Allen; son, Robert of Phoenix; and one grandchild.

Graveside services were held at Beth Israel Cemetery, with Rabbi B. Charles Herring officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary.

Harold Strauss

Harold L. Strauss of Scottsdale died May 9, 2000. He was 82.

He was born in Chicago and moved to Arizona 14 years ago from Chicago. He was an industrial real estate broker and was in the United States Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Clare; daughters, Freddie Lieberman of Phoenix and Rhea Brown of Tiburon, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

Services were held at Sinai Mortuary Chapel, with Rabbi Rick Sherwin officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary.

Bernard Farber

Bernard Farber of Scottsdale died May 5, 2000. He was 78.

He was born in Chicago and moved to Arizona 26 years ago from Urbana, Fla. He was a professor emeritus at Arizona State University and was in the United States Army during World War II in the European Theater of war. He was a member of Young Israel of Phoenix, Beth Emeth Congregation of the Northwest Valley, Bureau of Jewish Education and Parents of North American Israelis.

Survivors include his daughters, Lisa Farber-King of Troy, Ohio; Jackie Farber of Camargo, Ill., Erica Gaines of Santa Cruz, Calif., Julie Golde of Oakland, Calif., and Tanya Farber of Highland Park, N.J.; sons, Daniel of Minneapolis and Michael of Urbana, Ill.; brother, Irving of Lincolnwood, Ill.; and seven grandchildren.

Graveside services were held at Beth El Cemetery, with Rabbi Harris Cooperman officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary.

Rose Kern

Rose Kern of Phoenix died May 8, 2000. She was 81.

She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and moved to Arizona seven years ago from Florida. She was a homemaker, a past president of Hadassah and a member of Brandeis University National Women's Committee.

Survivors include her husband, David; sons, Allan of Paradise Valley, Stephen of Los Angeles, and Arthur of New York City; and two grandchildren.

Services and interment will be in New York. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary.
