Federation gears up for 2000 mission

Recruitment is underway for the 2000 Community Mission to Israel, sponsored by the Jewish Federation of Greater Phoenix.

The Oct. 23 through Nov. 1 mission is open to first-time visitors as well as those who have been to Israel in the past.

Itinerary highlights will include visits to archaeological excavations; ancient and modern sites; Shabbat programs; tours of the Golan Heights, Tiberias, Safed, Tel Aviv Jaffa and the Dead Sea.

Participants will also visit Kiryat Malachi, the Phoenix Partnership 2000 community.

Cost of the mission is $2,499 per person, which includes airfare, hotel accommodations, most meals, guides, ground transportation and programming. Participants are asked for a minimum suggested gift of $1,000 to the 2001 campaign of the federation, which supports Jews locally and overseas.

For information, call 602-274-1800, ext. 112, or e-mail missions@jewishphoenix.org.
