Former art teacher Helene Klibanow Dolan, from Glencoe, Ill., is the owner of A Paintin' Place, a party service for children.

The party service offers a one-hour painting party for children ages 5 and older. All supplies are provided and the children paint and decorate a plaster piece that they can bring home with them.

Dolan brings the party to individual homes, schools or other party locations and handles all set-up and cleanup.

Jewish News has recently hired Leisah Namm as a staff writer. She previously worked as an advertising assistant for the Hilton Hotels Corporation in Beverly Hills, Calif., and has a journalism degree from California State University Long Beach.

The Brandeis-Bardin Institute, a national retreat center for Jewish learning and culture, has appointed Rabbi Lee T. Bycel as president.

Bycel leaves his post as senior rabbi at Anshe Chesed Fairmount Temple in Cleveland to join Brandeis-Bardin. He spent 15 years as dean of the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion and was director of HUC's rabbinical school.

Bycel serves as a moderator for leadership seminars at the Aspen Institute and is a member of many boards, including Mazon: A Jewish Response to Hunger.

Special Assistant County Attorney Jana Sorensen has been appointed to lead the Maricopa County Attorney's Community Action Bureau. Sorenson has been both a trial attorney and Juvenile Division Bureau Chief at the County Attorney's Office. She has also served as an assistant attorney general.

For the past four years, Sorenson has worked with a variety of governmental agencies and neighborhood groups in the development of strategies and policies to address community issues. She has served as chairwoman of the Slumlord Task Force, authored the statewide anti-slum statute and supervised the County Attorney's anti-graffiti projects.

Arizona Gov. Jane Hull has appointed Barbara-Lynn Garza to the Arizona Board of Executive Clemency. Hull also appointed Kathryn Brown, currently serving as interim chair, as board chairman.

Robert Fihrer, the president of Resource Alliance, Inc., has been named to the advisory Board of the Recruiters OnLine Network, the world's largest network of recruiting firms. Resource Alliance is a Scottsdale-based executive search firm specializing in information technology.

Marguarite Clark has been appointed as the director of public relations for The Phoenician in Scottsdale.

Schwartz & Co. Inc. has expanded its business services to include exclusively buyer representation. Daniel J. Wilkens, a business broker for 22 years, has joined the company and will head this division.

Computer Support Group has hired John Rockett as director of marketing & training. Rockett will be responsible for the company's valley-wide client base and will develop computer-based training classes for business and non-profit professionals. Rockett has taught at St. Paul's Academy of Phoenix, and was the school's director of development.

Barbara J. Lloyd has joined Omni Mangement Group, Inc. as leasing/sales associate and property manager. Lloyd graduated from Arizona State University and holds a real estate license.

Marriott International, Inc. has named Michelle Daniels as general manager of the new Scottsdale TownePlace Suites. Over the past 12 years, Daniels has held various positions with Marriott, including assistant general manager and operations manager.

Dr. Joel B. Edelstein has moved his internal medical practice to the Arizona Physicians Center at 11209 N. Tatum Blvd. in Phoenix. Edelstein has practiced in Phoenix for 20 years and is board certified in internal medicine and a fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Internists.

Lewis Medansky, owner of Lewis Steven's distinctive catering, was a keynote speaker at the mid-January Catering Update convention in Las Vegas. Lewis, along with Gary McIntyre, owner of More than Meetings, gave 350 colleagues a step-by-step plan on how to find and book catering events for incentive travel clients.

Bernard, Dietrich & Associates, Inc. has announced that Jan Peterson has joined the firm as account executive. Peterson, a former vice president with Bank of America, is licensed in commercial property and casualty, as well as life and disability insurance coverage. She will focus her activities on business development.

The Arizona Business Alliance has elected Ronni Anderson to its board of directors. Anderson, president of Staff One Search, was the U.S. Small Business Administration's Arizona Women in Business Advocate of the Year, recipient of the Arizona Chamber's Athena Award, and the recipient of the 1999 Working Women Award. She is also involved in a number of civic and charitable activities.

Hyatt Regency Phoenix has hired David Gauthier as director of sales. Gauthier began his career as a sales trainee at Hyatt Regency Chicago.

The Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce has kicked off its Partners for the Future mentoring program. This program matches up small company leaders with big business leaders for mentoring purposes. Carrie Martz, president & CEO of the Martz Agency in Scottsdale, has been matched up with mentor Bob Bulla of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Arizona.

Morris Stein, president of the Stein-Cox group in Phoenix, a healthcare architecture, planning and interior design firm, has been matched up with mentor John Oppedahl of Phoenix Newspapers, Inc. Susan Thomas, president of Perfect Match Personnel in Phoenix, has been matched with mentor Richard Silverman of SRP.
