Boys, dads invited to sports night

Boys in eighth through 12th grades are invited to take their fathers (or other responsible adult males) to "Touch Down on Sports and Strength: A Night of Sports, Fitness, Food, Education and Fun for Fathers and Sons." The event will be held 5:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27 at Beth El Congregation's social hall, 1118 W. Glendale Ave., Phoenix.

It will feature workshops on fitness and strength training, preventing sports injuries, nutrition and a special presentation on testicular cancer.

In addition, Mel Didier, a scout from the Arizona Diamondbacks, will give an update on the upcoming season, and a Super Bowl predictions contest will highlight the evening. Dinner will also be served (dietary laws will be observed).

Admission is $9. For further information or to register, contact the Bureau of Jewish Education, 602-234-1645. The event is sponsored by the bureau and by Valley of the Sun Chapters of Hadassah.
