Eileen Brill, owner of Brilliant Concepts Marketing and Communications in Chandler, has been named member of the year by the Phoenix chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners. As chairwoman of the NAWBO Membership Committee in 1998-99, Brill helped bring in more than 80 new members to the organization. She has served the NAWBO board of directors for the past three years.

Linda Herold and Kim Yedowitz have been honored with "Spirit of Women" awards by Scottsdale Healthcare. The awards, which were given out at a Nov. 30 breakfast at the Radisson Resort Scottsdale, honor women who make a difference in their communities and in the lives of others. Herold is a Scottsdale resident who publishes "The Herold Report," a quarterly publication designed to help women get connected to organizations and individuals that can help them achieve their goals. Yedowitz is a registered nurse who helped champion Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner programs for Maricopa County and domestic violence programs at Scottsdale Healthcare. The state winners will compete for national honors at a Feb. 6 celebration at the Renaissance Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C.

Lori Schwartz has been hired as the new display advertising representative handling non-profit and community accounts at the Jewish News of Greater Phoenix. Schwartz recently relocated to Phoenix from Long Island, N.Y. She has an associate degree in business administration and a bachelor's degree in marketing from Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y.

Physicians Leon A. Rigberg and Jay R. Mellen, specializing in gastroenterology, have relocated their offices to 3501 N. Scottsdale Road #320 in Scottsdale, and 10200 N. 92nd St. #200, building 4, in north Scottsdale.

Jeanette Flom and Robert Mautner have been named as co-chairs of the Israel Bonds Campaign Cabinet in Phoenix, which raises capital for infrastructure projects in Israel. Other members of the Year 2000 Campaign Cabinet are: Prime Minister Club chairmen, Dan Abrams and Mel Myland; Dan Bock, new leadership chairman; Rachelle Leibsohn, Women's division chairwoman; Ray Perlman, synagogue and rabbinic division chairman; commerce and industry chairmen, Sheldon Roth and Sheldon Kaplan; Ray Lubing, northwest Valley chairman; rabbis Maynard Bell, Mark Bisman and Albert Plotkin; and Jeffrey Frankel, Les Guffey, Jeffrey Hoodin, Marc Kelman, Risa Mallin, Michael Perl, Joe Roth, Arnold Serbin, Howard Tabaknek, Lon Taubman and Terry Taubman.

Joan Kalmenson, director of Valley Jewish Youth, has been named director of special events for the Valley of the Sun Jewish Community Center. It also was recently announced the Kalmenson will be the director of the JCC's new Jewish singles' organization, Valley Jewish Singles.

Charity Prete has been hired as an account manager at MMI Associates, 14209 N. 58th St. in Scottsdale, a marketing and public relations firm.

Del Martinez of Sindel Internet Services has been inducted as a new member of the Arizona Business Alliance.

Jacob Moore has been named as the 1999 Arizona State University Outstanding College of Business Graduate.

Gary Trujillo, chief executive officer, president and chairman of the board of Quepasa.com, was awarded the Arizona State University College of Business Distinquished Achievement Award. This award recognizes alumni who have made significant contributions to their field, their community and the college.

Mike Hosking, chief executive officer of Canyon Telecom Inc., has been named Arizona Business Alliance Businessperson of the Year.

Ann Marie Lotts has been hired as a staffing coordinator by Staff One Search of Phoenix.

Leah Garwood has been hired as a scheduler at Training … la Carte, a personal computer training service company located in Park Central Mall in Phoenix. Garwood is a graduate of the DeVry Institute of Technology.

Bonnie L. Dixon has joined the Omni Group of Companies as an administrative assistant, and Patricia A. Buzadzija has joined the Omni Group as commercial property manager. The Omni Group is a Scottsdale-based commercial real estate and property management company.

David Israel, a financial adviser with Prudential Securities, will also be an issues coordinator at the Mesa branch office, 1201 S. Alma School Road. He will be jointly responsible for managing the initial public offering, secondary equity and debt offerings for the East Valley office.

Randy Saito has been hired as the new executive chef at the Hyatt Regency Phoenix, and Valerie Saito has been hired as the hotel's director of human resources. Randy Saito has been with the Hyatt chain since 1980, having worked at the Hyatt Regency Maui and the Grand Hyatt San Francisco in the 1980s. Since 1988, he has been executive chef at several California properties, most recently the Hyatt Regency Irvine. Valerie Saito has been with Hyatt for 10 years. She started out in San Francisco and spent the past several years as director of human resources at the Hyatt Westlake Plaza and Hyatt Regency Long Beach.

Rusty Childress, president of Childress Buick/Kia, has been elected president of the Community Covenant Corp. #1, a non-profit organization devoted to combating community deterioration.

The city of Tempe has hired Shannon L. Wilhelmsen as its new government relations director. In this position, she is responsible for preparing, presenting and representing the city of Tempe's interests to the state legislature and other elected officials and government organizations. Wilhelmsen is an attorney. She earned her bachelor's, master's of business administration and juris doctorate degrees from Arizona State University. She replaced Jim Huling, who left the city after nine years to become co-owner of Whelan Real Estate Consultants.
