Salk BBYO taking The League championship last fall.

In an effort to build a Jewish teen community across the Valley, Jewish News and The League present Teen Scene, featuring regularly scheduled content devoted to teen programming.

Here is a roundup of upcoming events for Valley teens.

Hebrew High of Greater Phoenix

Join the Winter Care-a-van, a five-day volunteer mission to Houston to help with hurricane relief efforts. The mission runs from Dec. 24-29. Close out 2017 with a mega mitzvah effort! Contact andrei@bjephoenix.org for more information.

NFTY Phoenix

Join NFTY Phoenix on Saturday, Nov. 18, for “Blackjack for a Cause.” The event runs from 7-9 p.m. at Congregation Beth Israel, 10460 N. 56th St., Scottsdale. Join your friends for an evening of blackjack fun while helping to raise money for others.

Proceeds from this event will go to the charity of the winner’s choice. Enjoy a yummy ice cream sundae bar! The event is open to students in grades nine to 12. Cost is $20. Sign up at southwest.nfty.org

Get ready for the NFTY Phoenix’s Chanukah party from 7-9 p.m., Dec. 9, at Temple Chai, 4645 E. Marilyn Road, Phoenix. There will be three parties under one roof, with separate festivities for students in sixth grade, seventh and eighth grade, and high school. All the students will join together to light the menorah! Please bring a small wrapped gift for our gift exchange, and come dressed to celebrate Chanukah! Best outfit at each party wins a prize. Latkes and light refreshments will be served. CTEEN — High School

Get ready for Shabbos in America! It’s a delicious and fun Friday night Shabbat meal set in the wild, wild West! Enjoy all of your favorite American dishes with your favorite American.

CTEEN Jr. — Middle School

Join us as we spread the Chanukah cheer and warmth to seniors. CTEEN Jr. will be visiting the Renaissance Senior Home to play dreidel and bring a smile to our seniors faces. The event takes place from 6:30-8 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 14. For more information, call Rabbi T at 480-410-1440.

Make sure you stop by for our Sunday meets from 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m. at the CTEEN Club at Chabad of the East Valley, 875 N. McClintock Drive, Chandler. You can socialize, learn and volunteer to help younger children learn and create as well. For more information, call Rabbi T at 480-410-1440.

The League

Registration is now open for the winter/spring season of The Jewish Youth Group Sports League, known as “The League.”

Games for this no-formal practice league will start again in January and are held from 5-7 p.m. Sundays at the Valley of the Sun Jewish Community Center (The J), 12701 N. Scottsdale Road, Scottsdale.

The League is facilitated by The J for members of Jewish youth groups (BBYO, NCSY, NFTY and USY). All teens in grades eighth through 12th are welcome. The League is funded in part by a grant from the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Phoenix.

Bnai Tzedek Youth

Philanthropy Program

The Jewish Community Foundation’s B’nai Tzedek Youth Philanthropy Program will host its Every Kindness Counts event for teens in seventh to 12th grade from 1-3 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 19, at the Ina Levine Jewish Community Campus, 12701 N. Scottsdale Road, Scottsdale.

Spend an afternoon of philanthropy, service and leadership. Please bring gift cards and gifts for teens in the Jewish Family and Children’s Service’s Transition to Adulthood program for foster teens. You must preregister with Andrea Cohen at acohen@jcfphoenix.org.
