Hamas is on the verge of being vanquished, as its monetary sources in the Arab world grow scarcer, according to Jonathan Schanzer, vice president of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies.

Schanzer, a former counter-terrorism analyst for the U.S. Department of the Treasury, spoke Nov. 12 at Arizona State University in an event called “Less Hamas, More Hummus,” sponsored by Sun Devils for Israel. In his address, Schanzer gave a brief history of Hamas and explained why he believes the Palestinian organization has reached its weakest point.

How is it possible to write an article about Hamas and not mention Islam??? The fleeting mention of Hamas being a branch of the Muslim Brotherhood is just not adequate. Neither is it adequate simply to label Hamas as anti-Semitic.
The credo of the Musim Brotherhood, which Hamas shares, is: "Allah is our purpose; Muhammad is out leader; the Koran is our law; jihad is our way; and dying for Allah is our highest hope."
In standard Islamic law, jihad means to make war on non-Moslems.
The Koran, their law, contains many verses commanding war against non-Moslems, and a verse commanding war specifically against Jews and Christians.
Muhammad, their leader, commanded Moslems to fight against the Jews and kill them, and that genocidal verse is part of the Hamas Charter. Here it is: -- "Allah's Apostle said, "You (i.e. Muslims) will fight with the Jews till some of them will hide behind stones. The stones will (betray them) saying, '0 'Abdullah (i.e. slave of Allah)! There is a Jew hiding behind me; so kill him.' ”

Also, to say that Hamas "led confrontations with the Israeli military during the three years of the Intifada." grossly plays down the murderous nature of Hamas which has murdered Israeli civilians whenever it could do so, and has rained down many thousands of rockets against Israeli towns within range.

The PLO is just as murderous as Hamas, and is just as devoted to those doctrines of Islam which require war against the Jews and which prohibit any recognition of Israel's right to exist.

Hamas is supported by nearly all of the American Moslem religious establishment and community organizations such as the Council on American Islamic Relations and the Muslim Student Association, both of which are derivatives of the Muslim Brotherhood.
