Education Divestment bill tabled at ASU

The Undergraduate Student Government Senate of Arizona State University on March 18 indefinitely tabled a bill that would have recommended that the ASU Foundation divest itself of investments in Caterpillar Inc. 

The senate, which is the legislative arm of ASU’s student government, turned back the bill, which equates the conflict between Israel and Arabs in the West Bank and Gaza with the former practice of apartheid in South Africa and accuses Caterpillar of providing equipment that helps “sustain the illegal occupation.”
