Socks for Seniors, a nonprofit community service project that organizes, collects and distributes new socks for seniors in communities throughout the country is looking to expand the program in the Phoenix area by finding area coordinators in the Valley to help with collecting socks this year. The program was started 13 years ago by a couple in Columbus, Ohio. No money is collected, only socks. The 2015 campaign continues through Dec. 24. Visit socksforseniors.com.

Desert Schools Federal Credit Union has launched its second annual Shine On campaign, with the intent of giving up to $10,000 each to six deserving organizations. Each charity receives $5,000 from Desert Schools, and then has the opportunity to earn $1,000 more for every 5,000 votes they receive on the shineonaz.org website. The following organizations were selected to participate: Future for Kids, Streetlight USA, Save the Family, Singleton Moms, St. Joseph the Worker and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona.
