A number of events are occurring over the next few months to commemorate and celebrate Israel’s 70th anniversary.

On Thursday, April 19, the Phoenix Hebrew Academy will be observing both Israel’s Memorial Day and Independence Day with an Israeli-themed falafel luncheon and accompanying program for students and parents. The performance will feature recitals of the Pledge of Allegiance and “Hatikvah,” plus students recounting the miraculous nature of some of Israel’s major wars, a choreographed Israeli flag waving and more. (Israel’s official commemorations of Yom Hazikaron and Yom Ha’atzmaut will take place in the Jewish state beginning the night of Tuesday, April 17 and extend until the night of Thursday, April 19.)
